This is a large shaker/rattle that has been made from a dried gourd. The spots that were left by Mother Nature were traced and painted and the entire gourd has been varnished.

This is a large gourd that I dried and cleaned out, and a hole was bored in the belly of the gourd for sound.
You cradle the gourd on your arm and using the soft fleshy part of your palm, pat a rhythm on the hole to make a soft twangy drum sound. The design follows the marks created by Mother Nature.
